The newest rock band breaking onto the scene: MY-HI

Initially formed in 2017, MY-HI have stormed the rock circle within the UK. Breaking out of everyone’s favourite coastal city, Brighton, like many of their peers, MY-HI have seen their successes all over the UK. After releasing their latest single, ‘Skintight’ MY-Hi have taken themselves across the south of England, playing a series of shows highlighting why they are one of the bands you should keep your eye on in 2023!

The recent months have been incredibly exciting for MY-HI being played on BBC introducing, this was quickly followed by their first play on BBC Radio 1! For any band pushing their way through the music industry being played on the radio is always a massive step in the right direction. The band has gone from strength to strength, being played on various radio stations up & down the country since then, to being invited to play at Icebreakers festival for the second time in a row!

Bringing traditional rock & roll fused with punky anthems to the streets of Hackney, MY-HI performed at the legendary, intimate Rock Bar, Blondies, home to Kerrang’s infamous K-Pit, homing some of the most notorious and prominent bands within the scene. Blondies has been graced with the likes of Mastodon, Parkway Drive, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes to name a few, the list could go on and on and on.

The gig took an electrifying start with The Lunar Effect, a psychedelic rock band and self proclaimed ‘stoner-rockers’, mixing big strong riffs with elements of fuzz and rock. MY-HI then took to the stage, at a venue as intimate as blondies the band could see the eagerness of the crowd. The gig was all out war, with bodies and fists flying in the mosh pit to the band going crazy on stage, excitement travelled all through the venue as fan favourite ‘VOID’ started playing. An impressive Drum beat fused with anthem-like lyrics and a catchy guitar riff, there's no surprise ‘VOID’ is everyone's favourite from their set. Their enthusiasm shone through each song, right up until the encore for which they brought back an MY-HI classic “Shiver '', the band's first studio released song.

The gig was filled with so much emotion, unreleased tracks, sweat and energy. There is no doubt that this is one for the books! You can see the band on their last few legs of the tour performing at Tunbridge Wells’ ‘the Bedford’ on the 17th February and on the 18th in Cambridge at the ‘Six Six Bar’. This year is going to be a massive one for MY-HI as they carve their name into the music industry!
