Pet Needs @ The Garage - 04.05.25

It’s the night of Pet Needs biggest headline show to date and the wrap of their ‘Fractured Party’ , a weekend of live shows by the band. With fans travelling from all over the stage it set for a memorable night

Up first Pageant Mum, playing not long after doors opened people were still making their way in. With a slightly shorter 5 songs set they made a good effort to interact with the crowd and get them engaged. The set ended on an energetic high note.

Shed came on stage with a group of people chanting their name, clearly with a lot of fans in the crowd already. With a ton of enthusiastic singalongs it was a very high energy set, only slowly down briefly part way through before picking it back up again. A highlight was their song ‘Lazy Susan’ a song all about Aldi which was clearly a fan favourite in the crowd.

Sonic Boom Six burst onto the stage with a ton of energy, with a non-stop set. With a strong Ska influence there was a ton of movement both on and off the stage. There was a strong upbeat and positive vibe. The energy was truly warming up the crowd before the main event of the night.

Before Pet Needs took to the stage a track played with the voices of many fans introducing themselves and where they came from to be at tonight's show. From the US to the bands home town of Colchester there was a huge scope of where people traveled from just to see the band play. Opening with ‘Sleep While I’m Dead’ had the crowd singing along loudly and it didn't take too long for the nights first crowd surfer to make their way over the barrier. With a lot of energy already from the crowd the band encouraged a circle pit for people who haven’t experienced one before. In the latter half of the set they told a story of a long term fan who told them last year if tonight's show sold out he would crowdsurf for the first time in his wheelchair. He fulfilled his promise and the crowd kept him up for a full song. There was exclusive announcement for a new album ‘Tour Worn’ with the first live performance of its title track. Someone crowd surfing with crutches encouraged the band to announce their next headline tour early, reminiscing on playing smaller shows and how this next tour will have some of the biggest rooms they will play. For them a win for them is also a win for the fans, being able to build community and connections between everyone. Tonights show really did show that, to see groups of friends singing together, people travelling from all around the world to share their love of live music. These connections are not only a reflection of the band but the communities that have formed around them.
