The Thrilling Fusion of Rap and Punk: FrozeMode
The London Based Rap Trio Have just released their new single Stick Dat. In a True Frozemode Fashion the track merges the realms of rap and punk, resulting in a compelling sonic experience. The song introduces itself with an intense and powerful guitar-driven intro, instantly grabbing the listener's attention; Followed by the gritty vocals, delivered with a hint of aggression, perfectly complement each other.

Frozemode, composed of three rappers each with a unique and different style to the other, make them a perfect showcase catering for all fans of rap and punk music, their individual sounds are influenced by their different backgrounds and that is translated flawlessly into their live presence. Individually here’s what frozemode’s influences are in their own words “
I.V.Gatlin is most influenced by punk and grime and he delivers janky flows with an in your face attitude.
Cho-Hollo is inspired more by trap and drill and this can be heard with his skippy flows and flexy style.
Lisong grew up listening to more rnb, old school hip hop and grunge/rock so he has smooth flows and sings the most.”
When we asked the band about the new song their answer was:
“Stick Dat is about how people who never fucked with you before start jumping on the bandwagon as soon as they see a glimmer of success. It’s also a track where we allow ourselves to shamelessly flex a little and remind the people that we are on the way to legends. But most importantly we just wanted to make a undeniably fun track that’ll turn people up.
This was one of our more freestyle tracks which first came about whilst Gatlin was on the way to the studio reflecting on a real life situation. The writing was pretty quick and we just had fun with it whilst recording. We’ve been sitting on this one for about 3 years now and since then the production has come a long way.”

In another interview question asking to describe their music for someone who haven't heard it before the band says : “alternative rap with heavier punky influences” adding “generally speaking we make high energy music, in your face rap music, that often has a lot of rage and angst in it… mainly we just want to express ourselves, unfiltered, so depending on what we’re feeling that day the sound matches it”
Our journey to discovering Frozemode took place at the great escape weekend last week.
We first saw them hop on stage with the amazing Noisy, the Worthing based band; after a brief chat with them outside we knew we had to go see them perform. Luckily, they had two of their four shows of the weekend remaining. We made it down to the saturday show at Volks and the place was set ablaze with a high energy performance, a band that left the crowd in awe.

From the moment the band took the stage, they commanded attention with their raw energy and authoritative stage presence. With each of their different personalities shining through on different tracks, ensuring not a single moment of one overshadowing the others.
When we sent some questions to the band one of them asked about the gigs they played at TGE and here is their answer: “ Yeah it was our first year there and it was fucking great. We are still in the early days of our music careers and so the more shows we can do the better. We love every single live show we get to do and are always so hyped and grateful to be standing on whatever stage we get the chance to stand on, so every single show we did felt like a blessing. We got the chance to introduce our music to loads of new people and we had a sick time. None of us had had a night out in Brighton yet so that was a lot of fun too. We met loads of cool people, got some free food and drinks, played at nice venues and made good memories, so it was definitely a success.”
One of the standout moments of the night was when the band launched into one of their Unreleased songs Silverstone,taking the lead on the track was Cho Hollo, with the tracks heavier drill influence it was the one that stuck with me the most.

Some of the remaining questions of our interview with Frozemode were as follows.
What Was your favourite song to perform live?
That’s such a hard question. It really depends on the night, but STICK DAT is always a lot of fun to perform as it is our last song in the set list. We always do a call and response and then jump into the crowd and finish the song moshing with the audience which feels like a great climax to any show.
What other festivals are you doing this year ?
Hidden Door, 2000trees, Burn It Down Festival and more to be announced soon.
What would be your dream venue to perform at ?
There are loads of great venues we’d love to perform at, but when we finally hit Wembley we’ll know our career is where we’ve always wanted it to be.
Are there thoughts of an album or a debut Ep soon?
There’s always been that thought in the back of our minds. We’d love to release a project as soon as it seems like the right time. For now we’ll release a few more singles and see where that takes us. There have been a few conversations about the possibility of releasing a project towards the end of the year though, so if the people want it let us know, haha.
Lastly, if you could feature on another artist's track or get someone else to feature on yours. Who would your dream collaborator be? Dead or alive.
Shit….. Skepta, Kendrick Lamar, Idles, Young Thug, MF Doom, Outkast, Radiohead and the list goes on and on.
