2000Trees 2026 has officially started with a bang (and a heat wave). With a full on day of genre spanning music, comedians & food, we’ve had the honor of picking our highlights from the day!

Starting us off we had Buds. playing the main stage, bringing the energy straight away, whilst the temperature had people dozing, Buds. had their crowd bouncing up and down the main stage arena.

Following this we caught Melanie Baker over on the same stage, an artist hailing from Newcastle with queer quips and band accompaniment equal parts playful and punchy. Next up London’s own Tooth were over on Axion stage, a two piece laying out and lamenting their own strand of music drawing from Midwest Emo.

In true festival fashion, we had some quick successions and overlaps, which kept us on our toes! We managed to catch Lonesome at the Axiom, followed by Night Swimming over at the Forest Stage.

Later in the day we got a tip off from a punter to go and check out Lemonsuckr who were playing at the Marshall Stage, when we got there the tent was already buzzing- almost immediately the bands frontman (Guy Ferris) was wading through the crowd, mic and cowbell in hand. In a true moment of energy the whole tent lit up to the beat of their latest release ‘House on Fire’, part of their 5 song EP ‘Life Is A Heist’. From there, absolute scenes, some moshing, a lot of bouncing, and just pure vibes throughout the entirety of the set. Truly a highlight of the day for me.

In the same vein as Lack Malice astounding us last night, we ran into a friend who we saw Pool Kids with, a band we wanted to see but likely wouldn’t have caught most of the set of. The band are from Orlando, Florida and have been touring consecutively for two months, rounding off that stint at Trees.

Brighton’s own Snake Eyes took to the Marshall stage despite the intense heat, bringing us more politically charged songs, one song specifically mentioning the climate crisis.

Native James was nothing short of feverishly fun and energising, whipping up a frenzy on the Forest stage, and concluding with his second to last song coming out on the 16th July, ‘Never Been Scared’. Louis was covering the photography for this set, and found himself in the middle of the wall of death!

‘Stop the blokes and keep your bush’ was the sentiment we were left with after seeing Delilah Bon. Having been a fan of Delilah for a number of years, managing to catch her at her 2023 tour, it was no surprise to see her stage adorned with political placards and slogans.

Don Broco stood in for Alkaline Trio to close out the evening at the main stage, with a solid emphasis on their latest music, but with a few fan favourites scattered within. Overall there was stage lighting and SFX with massive fire pillars exploding throughout the set, really boosting the energy of the whole thing. The true hardcore fans flooded the main stage arena, ending the set with flares & smoke grenades throughout the crowd.

We’re back on site for the rest of the weekend, so keep your eyes peeled for our coverage throughout!
