Closing out the last day of Latitude 2026 we had a stacked lineup and an extremely busy day for the team, bouncing between incredible sets, interviews with some of our favourite artists and trying to take in the full spectrum of Sunday at Latitude.

Everything Everything opened the Obelisk Arena with their existential musings that maintain their joyful spin even after well over a decade of first coming on the scene. The band came on stage in yellow co-ords, playing hits such as ‘Distant Past’ ‘Regret’ and, of course, ‘Spring/Sun/Winter/Dread’. The day kicked off with the right amount of energy, with a crowd responding effortlessly to Everything Everything.

We then caught the tail end of Panic Shack, a must-see in our list which had to quickly be demoted only due to other commitments on the day. We weaved from the back to the centre to be greeted by their moving new school font backdrop, closing out with ‘Who’s Got My Lighter?’ and ‘Pockets.’

We then saw Beth Orton, playing a number of songs from her new album, ‘The Ground Above’, released this year, along with tracks from her older albums ‘Trailer Park’ and ‘Central Reservation’. She was an artist we wanted to see, with contributor Yonks knowing her work from their Mum’s soundtrack rotations when they were a kid.

Militarie Gun graced Henham Park, all the way from California, bringing high energy (and the sunshine) with them, perfectly blending post punk & pop punk. This was the final night of their European leg, and they went out with a bang. Their live set cements that they are one of the most exciting bands in the scene for me right now, The rhythm section was relentless, with driving, tightly locked kick drums and bass providing the backbone for soaring guitar lines that effortlessly cut through the mix. Every chorus landed with power chord anthems, perfectly aligned vocals and melodic guitar phrases drifted through. Militarie Gun closed their tour with infectious melodies, exuberant energy and incredible musicianship. Militare gun are a shining example of why I love live music so much & why having punk representation at latitude is so important!

Shay O’Dowd took to The Alcove, hitting the audience with his iconic indie meets folk pop sound. With his hit single “BACK IN A HEARTBEAT”, it really felt as though he locked into the performance, the clear inspiration from artists like Noah Kahan and Lewis Capaldi shining through, but with his own unique take. He managed to really bring something special to The Alcove, Shay is absolutely someone that we can see headlining stages across the world within the next few years, he just seems to have ‘it’.

Hot off their performance at 2000Trees, Brighton based Lemonsuckr took to the Alcove, with their just released EP ‘Life’s a heist’, the 4 piece band took turns getting the crowd going, with both the lead singer (Guy Ferris) and one of their guitarists both climbing over the barrier to get right into the middle of the crowd at various points throughout their set. Their unique sound and incredible vibes really came together to make a fantastic set, even if the Latitude Crowd wasn’t quite the right type of punters for this band. We’d love to see them back in their ‘home territory’ playing a venue like Concord 2 or Chalk.

Self Esteem was the prelude to Lewis Capaldi’s headline set which would be a perfectly sullen end to the Sunday of the festival. Before then however, we’d get to indulge in more existential musings of life and love, instead paired with eccentric backing dancers, instead of an acoustic guitar and the occasional dry quip in between the most devastating ballad you’ve ever heard about letting your guard down - until Capaldi starts his next song.

Performing with a later edition of the set design and blocking for her latest album’ A Complicated Woman’, Self Esteem opened with ‘I Do and I Don’t Care’ a song you could easily mistake for a simple intro song to an album, before realising the concept starts from the jump. Self Esteem, AKA Rebecca Louise Taylor professes with later lines “I’m not complaining, I say, I’m winge-ing in a new way.” Despite joking, “I know, I can’t wait for Lewis Capaldi to come on - we’re nearly there.” the set in sum is a radiating acceptance of the self, with lyrics acting in such earnest that it’s infectious.

Holybones took to the lavish lounge stage deep in the woods, draped in bandages and exerting an aura of complete intrigue. The set that followed whirled with synth chords and a post punk honesty. The crowd, although sat on sofas were all lent forward, completely engrossed in this fresh, energetic but laid back layered sound. Truly proving their place on the BBC music introducing roster.

Lewis Capaldi made a triumphant return to the Latitude Obelisk (main) stage, last playing Latitude in 2022 before he took a break due to his mental health and his diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome. Throughout his set he shared some personal stories, talking about his previous experience playing Latitude and how he’d had a panic attack on stage, contrasting that against that saying “I’m having so much fun and I am so grateful to be here.”, reassuring the crowd that he's “in a much better place now”. His set consisted of his various hits, a few covers (“Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” by Creedence Clearwater Revival), throughout he managed to keep the exhausted Latitude crowd singing his emotional lyrics, ending with a 3 song Encore. Capaldi’s final song was “Someone You Loved”, officially closing out the festival with fireworks.

On our way back out of the Obelisk arena we were greeted by a drone show hovering over the iconic Latitude River, displaying the iconic Pink Sheep, and highlighting the final moments of the 20th Anniversary.
