Following the release of their newest track ‘Loaded’ that will be on their debut album ‘guitar music’ set to be released on the 23rd of September. This Merseyside band are running upwards, their set at the Alcove was bursting at the seams Friday evening at Latitude, dust was flying everywhere and there was not a still person in the room, from the barrier to the back everyone was singing along to their genius lyrics. Loaded talks about the way that cities change as you go older, a slight nod to the gentrification in the ‘northern quarter’ a well known area in Manchester known for its ‘hip’ and ‘trendy’ aesthetic bars,

“Somewhere in the northern quarter

I picture piles of money falling from the sky”

This high energy track with heavy guitars is sure to get stuck in your head all day long,

Their new album is “really good” quoted by the band themselves, reiterated a few times it’s definitely worth a mention that it is “really really good”.

After the success of the release of their debut EP “Grand National” and the soon coming Album, Courting are going all over the UK for their upcoming tour, playing legendary venues such as “King Tuts” in Glasgow, “Old Fire Station” in Bournemouth,  and The Green Door Store in Brighton, if they’re playing in a city near you (they probably are) it’s definitely worth picking up a ticket and seeing how good they are for yourself

Part of the post-punk revival fused with Indie roots Courting are definitely one to watch. On their hit song “Popshop” name derived from Keith Haring’s store of the same name, Sean Murphy-O’Neil, Courting’s increbibly talented frontman explains that it’s about “the music industry” and “the idea of selling out and consumerism” This song pokes fun at bands writing the same song over and over again, Courting did not want to be like that, keeping their individualism and writing different songs each time!

Some sort of getaway is what I'm wanting

Take the lads on tour, we'll go to Pontins

Major contract, signee enables

Content shitty, income stabled

Terms and conditions, work for exposure

Acquisitions, non-disclosures

Exclusive access, no rights to your rights

Selling out shows across the country, we spoke about how insane it is to be selling out shows in their hometown before their album is even released. Having supported the likes of FEET, Sports Team and Heavy Lungs, the feeling of having a community around you as insane. Sean Thomas, Courting’s drummer explained how crazy it is to be selling out venues that he used to go to to watch his favourite bands as a child growing up!
