As SXSW London made its much-anticipated European debut, the festival’s sprawling program of tech, art, and music converged in Shoreditch, drawing a diverse crowd of innovators, creators, and music lovers. Among the 100+ acts lighting up the city, Gender Crisis delivered a set that captured the raw, urgent spirit of modern punk.

It’s been over a year since Heart Attack Man was last in the UK and with a new album out this set was the perfect opportunity to showcase new music not just to any existing fans in the room, but to potential new ones. Opening with Laughing Without Smiling, one of their new tracks, the band immediately took control of the stage. The high paced set which mainly focused on the newer album tracks also has a good mix of older fan favourite songs. With constant movement and energy from the band on stage, to the multiple crowd surfers and stage divers they built up the excitement for the rest of the night, and with the announcement that they will be headlining the same venue later this year they have guaranteed many people will return.

It was really refreshing to experience! Performing in such an intimate venue made the whole experience feel very unifying; like a safe space. It was impossible to not sway to the beat like the rest of the crowd.
