Death From Above 1979 Live @ Camden Electric Ballroom 20.07.2025

After a a long year departure from the UK, Death From Above 1979 have returned for a one-off London show in the legendary Electric Ballroom in Camden, with previous openers and close friends of the band YAANG returning.

The night began with a very crowded ballroom, with much of the gig turning up for Yaang, the increasing the energy from the band and crowd; beginning with the very epic and eccentric song ‘Comfort’ making their sound and style known; with heavy riffs, crazy additives like synths and drum tracks that make for a very funky time.

The band absolutely powered through their set exercising their two-steps, their technical ability and impressive compilation of sound to create something abrasive but all groovy all in the same song. If you’re a fan of Death From Above 1979, these guys will certainly be up your alley, they may be lacking a drummer but the three of them prove they don’t need one and then some.

Tension and suspense was high as Death From Above 1979 walked on stage, with many fans foaming at the mouth for the absolute carnage about to ensue. Opening with ‘Turn It Out’ the crowd nor the band wasted anytime getting down and dirty, pits erupted, feet left the floor and heads were bopping as JFK scratched his bass strings to create that iconic sound.

Things kept ramping as their major hit ‘Romantic Rights’ turned the venue you upside down with the crowd even singing the riff which to me is always a massive indicator to the immense love for a song and a testament to how catchy it is. This song really set the tone for the rest of the evening, with Sebastian coming away from his drum kit to grace the microphone and give some extra passion to bridge.

As the night went on, the pits got more intense as more people got involved and Britain’s lack of AC became a real problem for everyone in that room as it become a pure sweat factory of music and passion making for one of the most incredible sets the band has put on or anyone in Electric Ballroom.
